At all levels within our organization, associates use leadership skills that incorporate and reinforce our Continuum core values and behaviors. These skills are essential components of every associate’s role, and they help the organization to meet its strategic goals.

To assist our associates in maximizing their potential in these important areas, Organization Development, Education and Talent Management (ODETM), a division of the Department of Corporate Human Resources, offers an exciting development program, THE LEADERSHIP DIFFERENCE. This uniquely structured, multi-tiered program will help you further develop and hone both professional development and interpersonal skills essential for you to succeed as a leader and just as important, to help ensure exceptional patient experiences and clinical outcomes.
THE LEADERSHIP DIFFERENCE consists of three distinct components:
Core Leadership Skill Certificate Series
- Core Leadership Skill Certificate Series
- Targeted Learning Series
- “On the Go” Short Programs
The Core Leadership Skill Certificate Series is required for all newly hired and promoted managers. The series provides key leadership skills training in the following topics:
- Introduction to Exceptional Leadership: Achieving Success With and Through People
- Managing Individual Talent and Performance
- “How Am I Doing?” - Giving Performance Feedback That Works!
- Involving and Engaging the Team
- Labor Relations Training for Managers
At the completion of this series, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment.
Targeted Learning Series
The skill-based elective programs in the Targeted Learning Series provide in-depth training in specific areas including:
- Customer Satisfaction
- Interpersonal Skills
- Conflict Management
- Advanced Self-Awareness and Team Development (prerequisite: Core Leadership Skill Certificate Series)
Many of the programs in the Targeted Learning Series are open to associates at all levels within the organization.
“On the Go” Short Programs
“On the Go” Short Programs provide associates with quick tips, practical tools and other resources to hone critical skills. To better meet the needs of associates, these programs are presented using a variety of approaches including:
Continuum’s Mentor Program
- Panel discussions
- Q&A sessions
- “Lunch and Learn” lectures
- Focused networking
- Individual leadership coaching
ODETM and Destination Diversity partner to offer the Continuum
Mentoring Program. Through this system–wide program, associates
are paired with senior–level executives who offer guidance,
support and promote the interpersonal and management skills of
their mentees. The program fosters opportunities for frequent
and open interaction between associates at different
organizational levels, relationship–building activities to share
organizational knowledge, better communication and collaboration
at all levels, and an open environment where information is
shared at all levels.
